Welcome to Old House Labs

Home of the Red, White, and Blue:

Fox-Red; Cream/Yellow; and Black/Chocolate field champion blood lined puppies, that is!

Our dogs make wonderful family companions that have the trainability to become excellent hunting dogs; field trial/hunt test winners; agility dogs; or working guide dogs. We believe that Labs have been breed to be constant companions and they are only truly happy when they are with their family. For that reason, our dogs are raised and whelped right in our home. Our puppies receive individual love and attention until they are placed into their new homes. Our puppies parents are CNM,OFA,EIC, and Cerf cleared and come with a 26 month guarantee on hips and eyes.

More About Us - We are a family run business out in the country, in beautiful Upstate New York. We breed only quality puppies from parents that have been OFA, CNM, EIC, and CERF cleared. They have been given a clean bill of health to ensure the healthiest lab puppy we can provide. Our puppies make wonderful family companions first and foremost! They also have the ability to be trained to hunt; to be an Agility Champion; a Working Guide Dog; or to continue their heritage as Field Trial Champions or Hunt Test Title winners.

We started out with one Chocolate Lab and she fit into our family so well, we knew we had found the perfect family dog. While looking for a stud dog to breed her with, I met an older man that was needing, because of poor health, to find homes for his dogs. He had been breeding dogs for thirty years and had a wealth of knowledge. I ended up taking four of his dogs, three that were still young enough to breed and one that was older and just needed a home. Don became my friend and mentor and guided me through my first few litters. He also taught me much about the care of dogs, gave me many good books to read and learn from, and was there to answer my many questions. He has since passed away and I miss having him to talk to, even though I don't need him like I did in the beginning.

We also got introduced by him into the exciting world of Field Trials and Hunt Tests. Only 5-7% of all labs make up the Field Trial Champions. All of Don's dogs had come from Field Champion lines and our Chocolate Coco, being a retrieving machine by day, (but loves to lay at my feet while I read at night), entered into training at the late age of 18 months with a professional trainer and received her Junior Hunt Title four months later. Her trainer has said she is a very talented Chocolate (most titled dogs are Black, a few are Yellow and fewer still are Chocolate). We look forward to seeing how far she can go. My son, daughter, and I are slowly learning the ropes and hope to be able to handle our own dogs in the Hunt Tests soon.

We also have gotten into the famous Kellogg/Helm Fox-Red, Pointing Retriever blood line that has produced the finest, all round hunting retriever anyone could want! You can read about this famous pair, as well as an article from Outdoor Life by Larry Mueller on line. The Fox-Red male puppy we were blessed with is from one of the most accomplished Retrievers in the country: 4XGMPR HRCH HRK's Rooster Smasher of TGK, MH, QAA. If you are a hunter, you will be as excited as I am to be able to offer offspring from this exceptional bloodline! We have a pair of the Fox-Red; one from the Kellogg/Helms blood line and one from the Kellygreen line. The Fox-Red is a form of Yellow; it is a beautiful dark red color. This combination will bring forth wonderful puppies with good temperaments, a love of hunting and retrieving, as well as water.

All of our dogs have had a full PawPrints Labrador Retriever panels done on them and are clear of all that can affect a lab.  The results are available on the PawPrints site and are open to the public for viewing.
Finally, all of our puppies are whelped and raised right in our home which enables us to give them all the attention they will need to have a good start! They get plenty of loving care from my husband and myself, my younger children, as well as all my grandchildren. Before leaving our home our puppies will be vet checked; receive their first shots and will be dewormed.  They will come with a 26 month health guarantee on their hips and eyes.  Take a look around our site and see the beauties that we have to offer or simply give us a call at 585-658-9389
